The Civic Coalition confirmed Paula Oliveto as a candidate for the City Legislature in the 2025 elections

The Buenos Aires fight for the 2025 elections is already beginning to add names. This Tuesday, from the Civic Coalition (CC)-Ari , a force that has Elisa Carrió as its main representative, they announced who will head the list for the Legislature: Paula Oliveto , with a long career in that space.
The person in charge of making the notification was the current president of the party, national deputy Maximiliano Ferraro . Under the title A city for all , the head of the CC-Ari bench in the lower house revealed: “The Civic Coalition has decided to be a protagonist in the Buenos Aires city elections on May 18. For this stage, we trust in the leadership of Paula Oliveto to clearly represent our convictions, values and proposals.”
The decision on Oliveto's candidacy was made on Monday during a party congress, where Carrió's party (a historic ally of Pro and which has strong differences with the libertarians) decided to compete with its own candidates in the Capital, governed by Jorge Macri.
“We will build the best alternative to defend an autonomous, avant-garde and humane city , as we always dreamed : free, diverse and pluralistic, with quality health, education and culture ; that prioritizes retirees and young people, guarantees security in each neighborhood and revalues public space to meet. We bet on the strength of entrepreneurs and small and medium-sized businesses to promote development and job creation,” promised Ferraro, who concluded: “It is time to lead without getting caught in the extremes , so that Buenos Aires continues to be a city of opportunities and progress.”
The response from the candidate, who is currently serving as a national deputy and who in 2023 campaigned for Patricia Bullrich for the presidency and for Jorge Macri for the City, was not long in coming.
Under the hashtag #OlivetoLegisladora , Carrió's sidekick wrote: “ It is an honor to lead the list of legislators of the Civic Coalition in my beloved city of Buenos Aires. I will continue working with commitment and conviction so that all the people of Buenos Aires feel that they can live better, that they have opportunities and that there is someone who defends them with all their might.”
According to the party, they chose Oliveto to head the list because they considered her a “undisputed leader in the fight against corruption and the defense of institutions” , and for having a “deep knowledge” of the Buenos Aires territory . “He always gave personal testimony of the character of this party in front of those who believe they are unpunished,” they said.
They also said that they will select the rest of the candidates in an internal process, in order to have a “competitive” and “faithfully representative” list of the space . “The Civic Coalition-ARI will be a convener for party and non-party candidates who want to bear witness to our values and join this challenge,” they proposed, seeking to expand.
Oliveto's candidacy comes a day after Buenos Aires politics was shaken by the announcement made by former head of government Horacio Rodríguez Larreta who, with criticism of the current Macri administration, announced that he will compete from the City . However, the former leader of Pro porteño who now has his own force, the Movement for Development (MAD), has not yet specified whether he will go for a space in the Legislature or if he will head a list for the national Congress.
In the capital, the PASO was cancelled and, therefore, the general elections will be held directly on May 18 , the date on which 30 of the 60 seats in the Legislature will be renewed, with the electronic single ballot system. On another day, in October, national senators and deputies will be defined - as in the entire country - by district, with the single paper ballot.
