Larreta confirmed that he will participate in the elections: "As a legislator, as a deputy or as a senator"

Former Buenos Aires City Mayor Horacio Rodríguez Larreta confirmed today that he will participate in this year's elections , announcing that he will return "as a legislator, as a deputy or as a senator." In his statement, he also harshly criticized the PRO for having "lost its identity" and supporting the Government of Javier Milei and attacked Jorge Macri for the current situation in the City of Buenos Aires, which he described as "degraded."
In a long text titled "I'm back" and published on his social networks, Rodríguez Larreta said that " in this year's elections we are going to participate with a great team . We want to work together again: get involved, listen, commit and make Buenos Aires an inspiration for the world again."
"I will be there, as a legislator, as a deputy or as a senator , to debate the city that we deserve. The city that we built together. The same one that is now degraded ," he warned. He affirmed that his "commitment is the same as always," referring to his intention to "help the people of Buenos Aires live better. More than a candidacy or a party, it is time to walk again towards the future."

The former head of government said that during his walks he "listens to all the neighbors who come by. I ask them how they see the city, how things are. Time and again they confirm what we all perceive: the city is not well. Buenos Aires is no longer what it used to be . It is time to say it and accept it. The only way to solve a problem is to start by recognizing it."
"The great achievements of our administration are being diluted: the city is dirty, unmaintained, potholes have returned, no works are being done and there are no answers to the neighbors. Prisoners for federal crimes escape from police stations , generating insecurity. Everyone tells me this," he said against Jorge Macri .
Going deeper into his criticism of the current mayor, he stressed that "what made us different was good management. What we were, our reason for being, today seems like just a shadow. It hurts me a lot to hear it. It hurts me to see it. How can it not hurt me if this city is a very important part of my life?"
"I am convinced that together we can recover Buenos Aires , take it into the future and make our city one of the best in the world again. I have thought a lot about the things we could have done better. During this time I dedicated myself to studying and putting together new teams. Now that there is macroeconomic stability, we can immediately resume the expansion of the subway and build the much-needed Sarmiento viaduct ," Larreta explained.
Politically, he considered that "the PRO has lost its identity" and added: "Knowing who we are, why we are here, why we do what we do and what we are for and against. The day you lose your identity, you lose everything ," he said. For this reason, he reaffirmed that he "was" and is "against handing over the PRO" to Javier Milei .
"That is why I was not part of the current leadership of the party. The PRO should have constructively exercised its role as opposition . That is why they voted for us. We have always been against fanaticism, messianic leadership and ideological extremism. We have always been against aggression and insults," he concluded.
"And, above all, we always defended the right to think differently. We always claimed public service and good politics as tools for change. I know this for a very simple reason: I was one of the founders of the PRO ," he recalled.
“You got on my nerves”: the tense relationship between Larreta and MileiHit by the scandal of the $Libra scam and the leak of the interview with Jonatan Viale that Santiago Caputo interrupted, last week Javier Milei asked for an investigation into the "direct link" between "corrupt politicians and journalists in envelopes" , referring to Rodríguez Larreta as "former presidential candidate who scored 11 points."
"Are you that worried about the crypto scam, Milei? I'll tell you in good porteño: you've got on my nerves. I've run out of patience with you and your army of trolls paid with the money of all Argentines. I've put up with your insults and lies for years ," began the former head of government, annoyed by the libertarian's remarks.
"Unlike you, I have nothing to hide. That's why I hope that Congress takes a stand and investigates you for the $Libra scam. And that the Justice Department investigates you and your sister for 'spreading' shady deals ," he continued.
"If you are trying to divert attention, you will not succeed . Your name is in all the serious press of the world as a synonym for scandal and fraud. A disgrace for our country. I lost an election, but I did not lose my convictions. I continue to believe in dialogue and respect, words whose meaning you do not know," Rodríguez Larreta continued.
Finally, he assured him that the dispute will continue in the courts and, sharply, made reference to Karina Milei, whom the head of state calls "The Boss": "Tell me personally. I'm going to ask your boss the price of the audiences with you and I'll see you wherever you want . See you in court."
