Inflation rebounds in February and stands at 3.74%

After having had a good start to the year, inflation in Mexico showed a new upturn in the first half of February. According to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi) , this indicator stood at an annual rate of 3.74%.
Through its bulletin, the agency reported that the National Consumer Price Index (INPC) increased by 0.15% compared to the previous fortnight. Remember that during the second half of January, this figure stood at an annual rate of 3.48 percent.

The core price index, which excludes goods and services with more volatile prices or those that do not respond to market conditions, increased by 0.27% on a biweekly basis. Within it, prices of merchandise rose by 0.21% and those of services, by 0.32%.
The non-core price index fell by 0.25 percent. Within this, prices of agricultural products fell by 0.81% and energy prices and government-authorized tariffs rose by 0.18%.
It was also reported that in the same period, but from 2024, the annual rate stood at 4.45 percent.

Inegi also published a list of products that were mainly affected by this slight increase. According to the information, eggs, housing, beef, bananas, electricity , pork, cleaning products and restaurants registered an increase in prices.
Finally, tomatoes, onions, zucchini, cactus, potatoes , carrots, watermelon, table wine and low-octane gasoline saw a drop in price.
