Inditex will move its offices in Tordera to Sant Adrià, next to the Three Chimneys of Barcelona

The Inditex Group will move the headquarters of its brands Massimo Dutti, Bershka, Oysho and Lefties to Sant Adrià del Besòs, the municipality next to Barcelona that awaits the transformation of the Tres Chimeneas sector, the old thermal power station that will become a neighborhood and an audiovisual hub . Inditex has announced in a statement that it will “reorganize” part of its activity in Catalonia, expanding the logistics facilities of the platform located in Tordera-Palafolls . The future facilities in Sant Adrià will house the activities of product design and development, pattern making, window dressing, commercial management, e-commerce and technology, among others. The firm speaks of a “campus,” a complex of “unique design” and integrated into the environment.
The Sant Adrià Town Council has welcomed the news in a statement and has valued that it “will boost the development of the Sant Joan Baptista neighbourhood, the Platja avenue and the Tres Chimeneas area”. The final stretch of the Besòs river has high levels of vulnerability and the council believes that “the project will be an important boost for the city”. The mayor, Filo Cañete, sees the arrival of “around 1,500 workers” from the four brands as a great boost for the area. In a municipality not used to being the protagonist of good news, the councillor points out that “little by little the new centrality” is being configured around the Tres Chimeneas and explains that it has been “months of work” with the company and also the Generalitat. “One of the issues that they have valued most is the location, and the good connectivity by public transport with metro, tram and train”, and all the regeneration of the environment, with the beaches and the future neighbourhood and audiovisual hub. “Everything adds up,” Cañete concludes.
The operation will allow the expansion of the space allocated to logistics at the Inditex complex in Tordera, where the central services teams of Massimo Dutti, Bershka, Oysho and Lefties are currently located. The land where Inditex will now be located is in the El Sot industrial estate, and is currently occupied by the old Schott Ibérica factory (more than 20,000 square metres), which the company bought a few years ago, next to an Alcampo shopping centre, right next to the train tracks and Avenida Eduard Maristany, but on the mountain side.
“This move will allow the Group to continue increasing the logistics capacity available at the Tordera-Palafolls complex, from where it distributes Massimo Dutti, Bershka and Oysho products to all the markets in which these chains operate,” the company reports. The construction of the new Inditex facilities in Sant Adrià is a project that is being coordinated with the City Council and the Generalitat, says Inditex, and “will contribute to the transformation and urban improvement of the area closest to the mouth of the Besòs River and the Las Tres Chimeneas complex.”
The Inditex Group also has the Stradivarius headquarters in Cerdanyola del Vallès, the brand's logistics centre in Sallent, and more than 170 stores in Catalonia. In total, Inditex employs more than 8,500 people in Catalonia.
