The continuous rain that fell in Torreón from Sunday night to early Monday morning caused flooding and downed trees in at least three public elementary schools, according to Flor Rentería, coordinator of Educational Services in the region.
Some of the affected educational institutions were the "Profa. Amelia Casas Álvarez" elementary school in the La Amistad neighborhood, the "Juan Francisco Mancinas Casas" elementary school in the Joyas sector of Torreón, and the "Carlos Delgado López" secondary school in Ciudad Nazas.
The official said that for the drainage and tree removal work, Support was provided by the Municipal Water and Sanitation System (Simas) Rural, as well as the Fire Department Rentería commented that there was no need to suspend classes.
