Civil Guard exams begin: 28,000 people are taking the exam to obtain one of the 3,000 positions.

This Saturday, September 6, a total of 27,614 candidates are taking part in the competitive examinations for one of the 3,118 vacancies available for the position of Civil Guard officer. The tests, which include theoretical and psychological tests , are being held simultaneously at 20 locations throughout Spain.
According to the Civil Guard, 8,936 women have registered this year, representing 32.4% of the total number of candidates. Regarding academic level, 9,754 candidates hold university degrees , of which 980 hold a master's degree and 15 have earned a doctorate . The selection process consists of various tests on general knowledge , languages, spelling, grammar, and psychometric aptitude.
The selection process is structured in four phases : knowledge tests (theoretical and psychotechnical), physical tests , personal interview and medical examination . For the theoretical exam , the Civil Guard has enabled twenty locations , whose locations have been published on the official website of the force . These locations are spread over twelve Autonomous Communities : Alicante , Ávila , Baeza , Cáceres , Cádiz , Gijón , Granada , Las Palmas de Gran Canaria , León , Logroño , Madrid , Málaga , Mérida , Murcia , Palma de Mallorca, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Seville, Valencia, Vigo and Zaragoza.

Before entering this phase, candidates have been assessed based on the additional merits they bring to the basic requirements for participating in the selection process , which include: being between 18 and 40 years old, possessing Spanish nationality , having no criminal record and having at least a secondary education qualification .
Candidates who achieve the required score on the knowledge test will be invited to participate in the physical tests, which include a coordination and agility circuit, a two-kilometer run, a push-up strength test (with different requirements based on gender) , and a 50-meter swimming test.

Those who pass the physical tests must undergo a personal interview to assess their psychological suitability for the position, as well as a medical examination to determine their health and physical fitness.
Finally, candidates who successfully complete the entire competitive examination process will join the Academy of Corporals and Guards in Baeza (Jaén) or the "Duque de Ahumada" Young Guards College in Valdemoro (Madrid) . There, they will receive professional training during an academic year, followed by 40 weeks of internship in various units of the force . After completing this training period, they will obtain the status of professional Civil Guards.
