All about the eighth stage of the Giro d'Italia: route, profile, schedule...

From Albania to Rome. The 108th edition of the 2025 Giro d'Italia is now underway in Italy, a month-long race that will finish in the Eternal City.
This Saturday, May 17, marks the eighth of the 21 stages of a race in which reigning champion Tadej Pogacar will not be able to win the pink jersey again, having been a notable absence this year. His UAE Team Emirates has decided to prioritize its schedule for other races and not compete in all three Grand Tours in the same season (Giro, Tour de France, and Vuelta a España). Jonas Vingegaard, the great alternative, will also be absent.
The favorites in this edition are Primoz Roglic, Juan Ayuso, Adam Yates, Giulio Ciccone, and Antonio Tiberi. Also to be considered are race winners such as Richard Carapaz (2019) , Egan Bernal (2021) , and Jai Hindley (2022 ), who will all be looking to repeat.
In this edition, competitors will cover 3,413.3 kilometers with an altitude difference of 52,500 meters. Of the 21 stages, two will be time trials, six will be sprints, and the rest will be mountain stages, the latter with moderate to maximum difficulties.
In addition to the four Albanian municipalities, the Giro will pass through 14 Italian regions : Veneto, Aosta Valley, Umbria, Trentino, Tuscany, Puglia, Piedmont, Marche, Lombardy, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Emilia Romagna, Campania, Basilicata and Abruzzo.
The eighth stage will be a mid-mountain stage with numerous steep climbs and uneven terrain. Perfect for a breakaway or a team looking to surprise. The GC men will need to be alert, as any mistake could be costly.

It will start in Giulianova and finish in Castelraimondo , and will have a total route of 197 kilometers with up to four mountain difficulties, one of category four, two of category three and one of category one.
The Giro d'Italia stage schedule is scheduled for around 1:00 PM. As is typical in a sport like cycling, the finish time depends on the speed of the peloton and the number of kilometers the cyclists must cover. The stage typically concludes around 5:00 PM.
