Tourist is asked to pay 12 euros for hanging up her bags in a restaurant

Struggling to survive, many restaurants charge for extras that were once taken for granted and free. For example, a vacationer on Ibiza was quite surprised when she discovered a completely unexpected item on the bill at a sushi restaurant.
It's a phenomenon that can be observed in almost all popular tourist destinations this summer: Locals complain about too many tourists , while restaurant owners complain about too few customers. As a result, many restaurants are fighting for survival and coming up with ways to keep their money's worth.
A sushi restaurant on the Spanish holiday island of Ibiza has recently been particularly creative. A vacationer reported that she was charged twelve euros for hanging her handbags on a table hook during dinner. She posted the restaurant's bill on X , which shows that she was charged four euros each for three bags.
"The waitress kindly offered to hang our handbags on a small hook at the table," writes Laura Cunei. "We declined. But since the waitress insisted, we finally gave her the bags. The surprise came when we saw the bill." When they complained, Cunei says the staff told them they could take the hook. Only after a massive protest did they receive a new bill without the additional charge for hanging the bags.
In Austria, a restaurant guest was also hit with unexpected additional charges: He had to pay for additional dishes. "We simply divided one pizza between two plates. We changed the order before it could even be prepared." One euro was charged for the plate, as was the change to the order.
