SC Freiburg got off to a bad start in the Bundesliga season. The 1-3 opening defeat against Augsburg was followed by a bitter 1-4 defeat at newly promoted Cologne. The euphoria following the successful 2024/25 season has thus evaporated for the time being. Now, the team under successful coach Julian Schuster must prove that the high expectations following the costly summer transfers will not turn into disappointment.

VfB Stuttgart hasn't completely convinced yet in this still-young season, but they enter the clash on September 13th with two narrow victories under their belt. The Swabians' record also speaks in their favor: In 51 meetings, VfB has won 27 games, Freiburg 18. Stuttgart also clearly won their last head-to-head clash 4-0.
