Chelsea coach Maresca is even happy about the goal

Chelsea FC booked their place in the semifinals of the Club World Cup against Palmeiras. Paradoxically, Enzo Maresca was positive about the fact that the Blues conceded a goal.

Chelsea had clearly dominated the first half, and consequently, they went into the break with a 1-0 lead thanks to Cole Palmer's first goal of the tournament. The next 45 minutes, however, would prove to be a nail-biter for England – primarily due to an 18-year-old who would soon be leaving.
Almost exactly a year ago, the Blues announced the transfer of Estevao Willian , who was a year younger at the time and already had a reputation as a great attacking talent. The youngster was worth around €34 million to the now reigning Conference League champions, who had agreed with Palmeiras to bring the young Brazilian to Stamford Bridge a year later—upon his coming of age.
Last appearance for PalmeirasNow the time has come for Estevao Willian to finally part ways with the club that made his big move to Europe possible in the first place. One thing is certain: Despite his young age, the attacking player knows how to say goodbye.
With the equalizer, he had temporarily thrown his future teammates off their stride, but due to goalkeeper Weverton's late own goal, Estevao Willian was denied another Palmeiras appearance. After the final whistle in Philadelphia, the youngster was overcome with emotion, and tears flowed at the sight of the packed crowd.
I'm happy because we won - and happy because Estevao scored.
The left-footer had to quickly wipe the sweat off his cheeks, as he still had an important photo opportunity scheduled. For his impressive performance against his future employer, he received the FIFA Player of the Match trophy.
So the smile finally returned to Estevao Willian's face, which, according to Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca, probably only grew wider: "I'm happy because we won - and happy because Estevao scored. It was a perfect evening," the 45-year-old said happily at the DAZN microphone.
While Palmeiras' elimination certainly hurts, Chelsea's new signing now has the opportunity to root for his new teammates. On their way to the final, the Blues must first defeat another Brazilian team when they face Fluminense in the semifinals on Tuesday (9 p.m.).
