US Deputy Attorney General visits former Epstein accomplice Maxwell in prison

Even years after his death, the scandal surrounding convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein continues to preoccupy the United States. The Deputy Attorney General isn't letting up.
In the scandal surrounding convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, the Attorney General's Office plans to re-interview his confidante Ghislaine Maxwell. "I met with Ghislaine Maxwell today, and I will continue my interview with her tomorrow," wrote Todd Blanche, Deputy Attorney General and former lawyer to US President Trump, on Platform X. The Department of Justice will announce further information on the findings in due course.
After the conversation on Thursday, Maxwell's attorney, David Oscar Markus, called it a "productive day." "She answered all questions truthfully, honestly, and to the best of her knowledge," he told reporters.
Maxwell, the longtime confidante of US multimillionaire Epstein, was sentenced to 20 years in prison in the summer of 2022. She played a central role in establishing a ring for the sexual abuse of girls. She has been in prison ever since. Epstein, who systematically abused minors for many years, committed suicide in his prison cell in 2019 at the age of 66, according to official reports.
His death sparked wild speculation in parts of US society because he had excellent contacts in American high society. Celebrities and billionaires frequented his home – even US President Donald Trump spent time with Epstein, as several party videos show. Trump had promised during his election campaign to open the Epstein files . Because he hasn't done so yet, pressure on him has grown – even from within his own camp.
