Reichinnek wants to donate salary increase

"I will increase my mandate contributions, which is what the party will demand – and quite rightly so," she said on the news magazine POLITICO's "Berlin Playbook Podcast" (Tuesday). "And also my donations, because I firmly believe that while representatives must be well funded to ensure their independence, what's happening right now simply has nothing to do with people's reality," Reichinnek said. On Thursday, the Bundestag is scheduled to vote on a salary increase. She plans to donate the 12,000 euros she would then have at her disposal each month: "1,700 euros at the federal level, 700 euros at the state level, 300 euros to my district association, 200 euros to my Left Youth group, and another 300 euros to my parliamentary group. I have dues for my union, for ProVeg, and for the ADFC (German Cyclists' Association), so that adds up to quite a bit," says Reichinnek.
