Train service will resume as scheduled around 5 a.m., an S-Bahn spokesperson announced. For more than two weeks, commuters on this section had to transfer to replacement buses. The S1, S2, S8, and S9 lines were affected.
The eastern terminal stations of Rödermark Ober-Roden, Dietzenbach and Hanau will be accessible by train again from Monday, the railway announced.
The important commuter line had been closed since October 2nd, and previously for the entire summer holidays, as well as on several weekends and at night. The reasons included fire safety work at the three Offenbach stations. The renovation of the Frankfurt-Mühlberg station was also planned. According to the company, a total investment of around 180 million euros was planned.
