Depending on who you ask, Germany is either on a direct path to dictatorship or a democratic paradise. Freedom of expression could be in a very bad or very good state. Unfortunately, debates about this fundamental right are all too often limited to these two extremes. While some say that one is essentially not allowed to have any more opinions, others are satisfied with Article 5, Paragraph 1 of the Basic Law. As if that were the end of it.
