Prince William and Princess Kate: Royal couple bakes cake in Wales

During their visit to Pontypridd in Wales, Prince William and Princess Kate also got involved - and baked a cake.
Back to work: Prince William (42) and Princess Kate (43) arrived in South Wales on Wednesday, February 26, for their first joint appointment after the short holiday.
There were also problems with the train: Due to train cancellations, their arrival was delayed by almost an hour. In the Prince and Princess of Wales' Instagram story, a short video can be seen in which the couple walks along the platform in an unusually casual manner upon their arrival. Not completely unrecognized, of course - Kate waves cheerfully to some passers-by who are filming the royals on their way.
In a red coat and with yellow daffodilsWhen they arrived in Pontypridd, things were less quiet. The royal couple were greeted by enthusiastic fans waving the Welsh flag. Princess Kate had prepared for this: her red coat can be interpreted as a tribute to the red dragon that adorns the green and white flag. During their visit, both the prince and the princess also wore yellow pins in the shape of daffodils - the national flower of Wales.
The couple's first stop was a market that has been the heart of the community since 1805. There, William and Kate visited a traditional bakery and rolled out the dough for the Welsh cake themselves. They then met with people in a cafe who told the royals about their experiences with the severe flooding that followed two storms in late 2024.

Wales is a special place for the couple: Not only have they both borne the country's titles since King Charles' (76) coronation as heir to the throne, they also lived in Wales before and shortly after their wedding in 2011, while William was stationed as a rescue pilot at RAF Anglesey. Their first trip after the death of Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022) also took them to Wales.
