Blac Chyna & Derrick Milano Call Off Engagement After 2 Years Together

Blac Chyna and Derrick Milano are calling it quits.
Nine months after the couple got engaged following one year of dating, the “Seen Her” rapper and the songwriter confirmed that they have broken up.
“After much prayer and reflection, Derrick and I have decided to call off the engagement,” Chyna (real name Angela White) wrote on her Instagram Stories July 3. “We love each other deeply and are good friends, but we both believe that God’s guidance has shown us that this is the right path for both of us, as we each continue our journeys.”
The couple’s split comes less than a year after Derrick popped the question onstage at Howard University’s homecoming celebration—also known as Yardfest—in front of a crowd of students who were cheering them on.
“Angela, will you marry me?” the 31-year-old asked while getting down on one knee with a ring box in his hand, after which Chyna responded by tearfully giving him a kiss and a hug.
And the couple had only gone public with their romance one year prior when the Rob & Chyna alum shared a photo of the two on Instagram with a heart and prayer hands emoji in the caption. However, the reality star confirmed the duo had actually been dating since May 2023 when she posted an anniversary tribute to the Grammy winner.
"Happy 1 year anniversary @derrickmilano," she wrote on Instagram last May. "Reflecting on a year of pure magic and joy with you, my dearest Derrick. Your love, support, and friendship have filled my life with light and warmth."
While this was the third engagement for Chyna—who shares son King Cairo, 12, with ex-fiancé Tyga as well as daughter Dream, 8, with ex-fiancé Rob Kardashian—she recently shared insight into how she successfully co-parents with both of her exes.
“I think the main thing is communication, and also learning your boundaries,” Chyna told Access Hollywood in March. “If you have your own thing going on, you won’t be so much in the other person’s business.”
After all, the key to coparenting is focusing on what, or rather who, is really important.
“Sometimes people lose themselves and they’re so caught up in the other parent’s business to where they can’t even focus on themselves,” the 37-year-old continued. “But ultimately, focus on the kid, show respect, have boundaries and communication, and you should have a healthy coparenting life.”
