Bremen founder sells his startup Bettergy to Christian Wolf's More Nutrition – how the deal came about

Are fiber the new fitness trend on the market after protein, creatine, and the like? André Volkmann, a startup founder and nutritionist from Bremen, is convinced of its health benefits. The North Rhine-Westphalia native therefore founded the Bettergy brand in 2020 – a sugar-free, plant-based beverage that doesn't use synthetic sweeteners but is rich in fiber.
The trend for fiber-enriched soft drinks is currently sweeping from America to Germany – Poppi and Olipop are considered pioneering brands, two lifestyle brands that launched on the US market in 2018.
The 36-year-old wants to break into the German beverage market with a new, functional soda and a strong partner: The startup Bettergy is now rebranded as More Fizi – the startup has been integrated into The Quality Group (TQG) under the name More Nutrition . TQG is thus expanding its product portfolio to include high-fiber beverages.
The Quality Group has operated two core brands since 2021: the sports nutrition brand ESN and More Nutrition, known for low-sugar foods and supplements. In 2022, the British investor CVC acquired a majority stake in the company.
Gründerszene spoke with founder André Volkmann about the exit from Bettergy – how the deal came about, what he plans to do now, and what it's like to work with More founder Christian Wolf and product manager Nicolas Lother.
