Rosalía: New album leaked online days before release

Madrid. According to media reports, the new album by Spanish singer Rosalía was leaked two days before its official release. All the songs from "Lux," as the 33-year-old's new work is called, were circulated on social media, reported the newspapers "El País" and "El Periódico," as well as other Spanish media outlets, citing several sources, including journalists, who received the songs via WhatsApp or TikTok.
Several users had shared it on various social networks, according to El País. "One of the most eagerly awaited music releases of the year, accompanied by a meticulously planned marketing campaign and strict embargo periods, has been released by numerous pirates," the newspaper commented. The material has been circulating "uncontrolled online" since Wednesday morning.
The artist's label in Spain, Columbia Records, declined to comment on the incident when contacted, the Europa Press news agency reported. The singer, who was holding a listening party in Barcelona that evening, also initially remained silent.
Rosalía's new album, "Lux," is set for release on November 7th, coinciding with a concert in Valencia, roughly three and a half years after her third studio album, "Motomami." Just over a week ago, the musician, born near Barcelona, released the first single. In the song "Berghain," the Catalan artist collaborates with Icelandic artist Björk and US producer Yves Tumor. The song is sung in three languages: Spanish, English, and German.
Fans are already ecstatic after this first taste. The video garnered over 18 million views on YouTube alone after just nine days. Online and in the media, there's speculation about whether "Berghain" might be an homage to the world-famous Berlin techno club of the same name.
Rosalía has achieved international success with her blend of flamenco, Latin pop, R&B, reggaeton, and "Música urbana latina." She won a Grammy in 2020 for her album "El mal querer" and received the award again three years later for "Motomami." She also works as an actress, appearing in films such as Almodóvar's "Pain and Glory" and in the upcoming season of the acclaimed series "Euphoria."
