Calin Georgescu: Romania's pro-Russian presidential candidate arrested

According to his communications team , the pro-Russian politician Calin Georgescu was arrested as he was on his way to submit his candidacy for the presidential elections in Romania. "Today Calin Georgescu was supposed to submit his candidacy for the new presidency," says a post published on X. "Only ten minutes ago he was stopped in traffic and summoned for questioning by the Attorney General's Office! Where is democracy now, where are the partners who should defend democracy?", it continues. The post tagged US President Donald Trump, his Vice President JD Vance and Elon Musk. The Romanian Constitutional Court had declared the first round of the presidential election on November 24 invalid in early December due to suspicion of interference by Russia. The right-wing radical Georgescu surprisingly won.
