Brutal knife robbery in Vienna-Margareten: Passerby escaped

A 24-year-old man is said to have attempted to rob a passerby with a knife in Vienna-Margareten on Thursday evening.
A 24-year-old man (Stbg.: Austria) is said to have approached a 60-year-old passerby from behind on Thursday evening on Wiedner Hauptstraße in Vienna-Margareten, pulled out a knife and told the man that this was a robbery.
The 60-year-old managed to escape. Alerted police officers from the Van-der-Nüll-Gasse police station were able to quickly stop the suspected perpetrator near the crime scene. He had previously discarded the knife; it was confiscated in the immediate vicinity. The 24-year-old pleaded not guilty. He was taken to a correctional facility on the orders of the Vienna Public Prosecutor's Office.
