Actress Uschi Glas receives death threats – why?

The 80-year-old actress Uschi Glas has received death threats because of her commitment to fighting anti-Semitism. The Bavarian justice system's anti-Semitism commissioner, Andreas Franck, has launched an investigation.

Glas told the Bild newspaper that she was receiving massive calls for murder on social media. "These threats leave me speechless." But she had the courage to take action against people who spread hate and poison. "I won't let myself be deterred, I'll keep standing up. We need a clear stance in our country," said the actress.

According to the Bavarian Justice Department's anti-Semitism commissioner, the Internet postings give rise to initial suspicion of condoning criminal offenses. The law provides for a fine or a prison sentence of up to three years. The identity of the author of the posts is currently being determined.
