Accidents: Driver dies after rear-end collision on A7

The driver of a small van was fatally injured in a rear-end collision on the A7 motorway in Lower Franconia. His vehicle crashed into the back of a 40-ton truck without braking, police reported. The truck driver had to brake on Monday evening near the Schweinfurt/Werneck motorway junction due to a traffic jam - the driver of the small van apparently noticed this too late. After the accident, the 51-year-old was taken to hospital with serious injuries, where he died a short time later.
