Accident at the Deichtorhallen: Cyclist seriously injured in accident in Hamburg

A cyclist was seriously injured in a traffic accident in Hamburg on Sunday evening. According to police, the woman was cycling in light rain near the Deichtorhallen shopping center when she was struck by a car at the Deichtorplatz/Amsinckstraße crossing. Initial findings indicate that the 48-year-old woman ran a red light. According to police, the 59-year-old driver drove off when the light was green and apparently couldn't see the woman in time due to poor visibility. An emergency stop was unsuccessful due to the rain-soaked road.
